Welcome back to another season of fun-filled and competitive hockey at Ashford Hockey Club (AHC).

Well done to all those who took part in the summer hockey programme, both summer league and junior training and camps. A big thank you to Claire Brant, Peter Cottrell and Neil Smith for all their hard work and commitment in organising both players, coaches and umpires during the summer.

Continuing in the role of Chairperson this season will be challenging but a pleasure. I am grateful for all the support. It is an absolute joy to work with the kind, dedicated and committed people that make up this season’s committee.

I hope that all members can feel that their committee is an approachable one. Club forums will be organised for all players and parents to attend to give feedback and ideas. No matter how big or small any suggestion will be very welcomed. This is the way a club grows – by coming together.

As I reflect back on the wonderful Centenary Gala Dinner last May, I am aware that my time at AHC has been very brief up to this point. Only five years ago I was introduced to the club and its members by Neil, yet the welcome I have received from everyone, both junior and senior, means that I can comfortably call AHC home. Coming from a club that very recently celebrated its own centenary (Indian Gymkhana HC), I know very well what it is to not only be proud of a club’s history and accomplishments, but also be excited about the direction it is going in.

This is just the beginning; I hope the relationships we have all developed can progress forward consistently.

I would like to wish everyone a very successful and enjoyable 2022-23 season.

Have a great one.
