A solid finish for the 2's
In their what ended up being the penultimate game of the season saw the 2's in their last home game against Windsor. The team had hoped to improve on their away result against Windsor which was a 3-3 draw. However, this wasn’t to be, in a similar trend to as previous matches this season the 2s matched their result from the first and second half of the season with another 3-3 draw. This game saw goals from Paul Tickner, Ian Parker and a returning Matt Emmerton who scored after returning from a 2-year break.
The last game of the season was off to a bad start when the 2's had a couple of last minute drop out that saw them with 9 players on Saturday morning. Thankfully Chris Mather, Chris Lunn and Elliott Symes stepped in to help the 2s out. The early start saw the 2's head away to Wycombe, the warm morning saw the team getting away to a great start with an early goal from Chris Lunn with a nice deflection followed by a reverse from Shane at the top on the D putting it in to the bottom corner.
This saw the 2's heading into half time 2 up. However, Wycombe weren't going to finish the match without a fight the later end of the second half saw the 2's camped in their 25 defending the heavy pressure form Wycombe. This pressure was overcome by the 2s who managed to keep their clean sheet and win the game 2-0.
The final game of the season that was due to be played against oxford hawks has been postponed without a confirmed date of when or if this game will be played? This leaves the 2s in 4th in the league with the one game remaining.
Overall, the 2s have had a great season finishing 4th in the league and massive player development in all of the team especially the colts who have become key members in the team.
I would like to thank the whole team for the hard work they put in the season and the support they have given me as my time as captain. Let's hope for a strong season and push for promotion next year.
